monochromacy
Monochromacy is known as "Total colour blindness". It occurs when two or all
three of the "cone pigments" are missing and colour and lightness are reduced to
one dimension. There are two types of monochromacy, rod and cone. It's not gender linked.

- Rod monochromacy is a really rare form of colour blindness. It is the inability to see the difference between any colours because of non-functioning or absent retinal cones. People who suffer from this may also have poor vision.
- Cone monochromancy is a rare total colour blindness that also comes with relatively normal vision. Cone monochromacy can be a result of having a type of dichromatic colour blindness.
